Going on a vacation or have a business/work trip coming up? Regardless of your location, there’s an endless amount of opportunities to exercise using your surroundings. A common misconception is that traveling makes exercising difficult. However, it’s a lot easier than most people think. Below, we’ll share a few helpful tips to get you ready for your next trip.

Plan Ahead

If you’re staying in a hotel, check out their amenities prior to your trip. You can check on their social media channels, website, or yelp page. Many hotels include a fitness center or a pool.

Do you have a hiking or walking trail nearby? After your morning coffee, head down the trail to burn a few calories and get your body moving!

Youtube is your friend! There are so many great workout videos on there and different levels to choose from. Whether it’s a rest day, a HIT day or a light workout day, it’s all on there. Be sure to save the videos to your device or include them in your “Watch Later” folder on the Youtube app.

Pack Workout Outfits

Once you’ve planned your workouts throughout the trip, you need to figure out what clothing items you will need to pack in order to be fully prepared for each workout. Consider packing these along with your daily outfits for the trip:

  • Running or Hiking Shoes
  • Top and/or Sports Bra
  • Leggings, shorts or Athletic Bottoms
  • Swimsuit
  • Headphones
  • Yoga Mat
  • Resistance Bands
  • Downloaded workouts

These items will help give you the best chance for a successful travel workout!

Schedule your Workout in your Agenda

Make an itinerary for your trip, regardless if it’s for business or pleasure. Typically, on a business trip, the coordinator will send out an agenda and gatherings for events, conferences or meetings. Schedule your workout before or after your planned events.

If you’re visiting relatives or friends, it’s probably best to schedule your workouts in the mornings, plus you can even invite them to tag along!

Get Plenty of Rest

If you’re working out during your trip or not, traveling can be tiring, especially when landing in a different time zone. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest to be fully prepared for your day. Of course, getting a workout in is good for your health, but being exhausted can do more harm than good by suppressing your immune system. So, plan activities, but don’t over do it.

Overall, it’s a great idea to bake a workout into your agenda. By planning ahead and being prepared to exercise, you are setting yourself up for a successful workout and healthier habits. Make your next travel experience a happy and healthy one!
